Being a DJ is proving to have a very financial edge and an enjoyable profession. Most DJ’s nowadays perform around clubs and parties, but some are held in high regard and perform in concert halls and VIP parties. These DJ’s are paid very well and get to meet with a lot of important and famous personalities. Because a DJ has the ability to mix different tracks together of two different types or genres of music, then they can have a wider range of tunes and harmonies. There are 4 basic tools that a DJ uses to make his music, a headset, a mixer, a turntable and a laptop. Most modern DJ use a laptop to record their songs and have premade mixes for their music. A laptop can also be convenient when it comes to mixing his tracks and ambient sounds.

A DJ uses his headset as a way to hear a preview of the primary beat that they are making. The mixer is used primarily to increase or match tempo, change the equalizer of the music and add a fade-out mix to the songs and tracks. In junction with the turntables they all contribute to the harmonization of the beats, snares and beats. The most important characteristic a DJ has is his ability to focus on his tracks and music to the point of blocking out events that are happening around him. The techniques they can perform are due to the amount of time they put in practicing their art.

During a concert two aspects must always be taken in account by the DJ that is the sync of the tracks and speed/tempo of his music. Even using 2 track records that have similar tempos/bpm and is perfectly matched can still turn out to be of sync. When the DJ’s music becomes un-sync they will usually try to repeat the track or skip it with the turntable. They also listen with their body, move their feet and their heads vigorously to the primary beat – these help them concentrate with their music.

With all their hard work most DJ’s tend to be under appreciated and most will never become famous. But for most DJ’s the motivation of their work has always been primarily because of their love for music. This makes them wholeheartedly devoted to their line of art and their profession. In the end of the day, what really makes them great artists and musicians is the love they have for their work.
